9 Principles and 12 Values

There is a movement afoot to restore the character of America. Let's see of we share some of the ideas that were central to those who helped to CREATE the United States of America.

Do you believe that this is a good country? Do you believe that God gave us this nation as a gift and is He the center of your life? Do you try to live your life with honesty and integrity? Do you believe that the family is sacred and that parents should control what, where and how their children learn and live, not the government?

Do you believe in the rule of law, that no one should be above it, and that for wrong actions there are consequences? Do you believe that people have the right to be born, to live in freedom and to pursue happiness, but that what each person accomplishes within those rights is up to them?

Do you believe that YOU should determine who you want to charitably share your talents, goods and wages with - not have them demanded of you by the government? Do you believe that our ability to agree to disagree is what helped this nation grow, that intelligent debate and discourse are vital to our health as a nation and that it is not un-American for you to disagree with authority or anyone else you know?

Do your believe in a government of the PEOPLE, by the PEOPLE and FOR THE PEOPLE? Do you believe that those in elected office must listen to the people who hired them?

If you agree with these ideas, let me ask you one more thing. Are the following values part of your core standards - honesty, reverence, hope, thrift, humility, charity, sincerity, moderation, hard work, courage, personal responsibility and gratitude? Then perhaps you would enjoy looking at the little project a colorful commentator started, called the 9-12 project.

After 9-11-2001 Americans, without ANYONE telling us what was right, just did the right thing. We donated our time, money and blood, volunteered, looked out for each other and prayed for the families of all those involved. We believe that we MUST revisit how we felt and what we did on 9-12-2001...the day after an event that changed our country forever.

We must just stand up and DO THE RIGHT THING. We must let our voice be heard by making our integrity so obvious, our love of country so appealing, our desire for the best for our friends and neighbors such a shining light, that no one can deny the worth of being an American and that it is the greatest privilege on earth.

Why are we angry?

I am listening to news on several stations including Fox and there seems to be the impression that the outrage and protests are only about AIG and bonuses.

That is not the case. We are ANGRY because no one in Washington is listening to the people who sent them there and haven't for years!! They just sit there arguing with each other or patting each other on the back, figuring out how to get reelected, over-regulating our lives and spending our hard earned money however they choose in their whim of the moment.

The word TRILLION is scary and it is just rolling off their tongues as if it is nothing. We are printing money to take care of all their plans and it will mean that we effectively just all took a pay cut to take care of their dreams for all the non-working people. You haven't heard our voice before because we are just hard-working people who usually don't have time to protest!!

What's the plan?

There are days lately where I don't recognize anything about the world I am living in. I have to believe that God knows exactly what is going on, and has a plan for how I am to walk through these difficult times.

This is what I understand the plan to be.

  • Take responsibility for my own actions, debts and burdens.

  • Live my life with the highest degree of integrity possible with the help of His indwelling Spirit.

  • Don't let the sun go down on my anger...since this is hard for me right now because of the actions of the government, I try to translate it into action and communication. I can't call it MY government.

  • Try to show kindness to friends and strangers alike.

  • Find some humor every day - it IS good medicine!

  • Learn something every day - exercise the gray matter.

  • Spend time in communion with him and taking in uplifting music and thoughts.

  • Be a professional in a job where I am confronted with very liberal ideas at every turn. Treat my coworkers with respect, and kindness.

  • Try to live a balanced life - faith, friends and family, job, responsibilities, fun. Due to the lack of in-person friends right now, the fun part is sometimes challenging, therefore hard to relax. Most of my friends appear to be of the cyber variety. I have lots of acquaintances but no one really close. After years of personal traumas and struggles, loneliness seems to be my biggest one right now. 55 and single just pretty much is not great! OK...done whining...just had to vent.

What I have added to my life is political activism ( http://www.the912project.com/ , http://tiny.cc/teachers , http://tiny.cc/protestwear , http://tiny.cc/taxdayteaparty827 , #tcot, #redco, #hhrs, #rush, #glennbeck on http://www.twitter.com/ ).

I am still a novice activist, but a small attempt is better than no attempt. That is the only way I can live with myself. This country is worth saving for the next generation. Tea Party in Tampa 4/15 is my next event. Where are world events headed - I have no idea. But God does and he wants me to spend time in prayer and interceding for my nation and it's leaders and those who want to lead. That's a reminder to myself.

Important Special Election note from Fred Thompson

On March 31, you and I have an opportunity to advance the cause of freedom and Founding Principles. I’m writing to you to ask for your help in achieving this important victory. Here is the situation. A Special Election will be held on Tuesday, March 31 to fill the vacant U.S. House seat in New York 20th District. The Republican candidate, Jim Tedisco is a solid conservative. He is being opposed by a Wall Street Democrat, Scott Murphy. Every leftwing group and union in the country is pouring money and manpower into the 20th District. From ACORN to the AFL-CIO, every one of the organizations that oppose common sense solutions based on principle is working to keep control of this seat. And it is easy to see why these radicals are fighting so hard.

America is waking up to the flawed thinking and outright dangerous schemes of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid’s Congress and the Obama Administration. Opposition is building every day. If Jim Tedisco wins this seat, it will be a very public repudiation. A Tedisco victory will start the process of building an effective opposition to the Obama-Pelosi agenda, and send a clear message: conservatives aren’t going to let the extremist left in Washington strip us of our rights and freedoms.

Please, take a few minutes and go to www.jimtedisco.com and make a donation to Jim’s campaign. You can learn all about the campaign. Whatever you can afford will be greatly appreciated. FredPAC intends to be aggressive in promoting those candidates that stand for individual liberty and the Founding First Principles of our nation. But all we have is what you and other dedicated supporters send. I know times are tough. I know you will do what you can. With only a few short days remaining, it is vital that we act fast. So, please act today. And thank you for your continuing support and trust.

I deeply appreciate all that you do. Sincerely,

Fred

TODAY

I hear a lot of talk on the www.912project.org which is a great new site, about overthrow everything, throw all the bums out, take back our country, etc. Please, let's talk about what we (you) can do TODAY to make a difference.

TODAY you can sign up for a Tea Party in your area on April 15 - http://tiny.cc/taxdayteaparty827 .

TODAY you can look at the list of senators who will be up for reelection in 2010 here (immediate impact) - http://tiny.cc/Senate2010 - there are VERY powerful people on both sides of the aisle on that list - find those that are not serving the American people and find out who is opposing them - and support that candidate monetarily and by volunteering if THEY are worthy. Check out the committees they serve on here - http://tiny.cc/SenateCommittees .

TODAY you can follow key races here - www.thefreedom project .org - and support worthy candidates whether they're from your state or district or not. If we EACH gave $1 or $5 to worthy opponents no matter where they are or what party they serve, we would build the war chests they need to run effectively. There are mid-term races to be won.

TODAY you can pray for our nation and its leaders, whether you agree with them or not, because we are commanded to. God is not surprised at our current state - (I Chronicles 29:11-12 TLB).

TODAY you can pray for the power to live with integrity in this crazy world no matter your profession or stage of life. When you respond to this post, please respond with what we can do

TODAY to make a difference...not next week, month or year, but TODAY.
See you on the flip side - teaching duty calls.

Sorry for the Absence

Have been spending a lot of time at www.the912project.com . Went to a viewing party Friday night of Glenn Beck's special and it was great to spend time with so many conservatives (over 300) of different backgrounds.

What is to hate about being a conservative?

  • Most of us have a foundational faith that makes us law abiding useful citizens.
  • We believe there should be less government not more.
  • Our charitable giving and activities take care of the truly needy in our neighborhoods - we believe it is our job not the government's
  • We believe the citizens of this country deserve a strong defense and that every citizen of Planet earth deserves to taste freedom in their life time.
  • We volunteer - without anyone asking us to - in our churches, communities, hospitals, food banks, pregnancy shelters, nursing homes, tutoring, big brothers/sisters, literacy, and the list goes on!
  • We are the first to respond to traumatic events in our neighbor's, our communities' and our nation's lives.
  • We believe every life has a chance to see what can be made of it, from conception to natural death.
  • Many of us do believe that certain lifestyles are wrong but what we don't like is having those wrong lifestyles force fed to our society and the innocent. We don't hate the people that live them any more than alcoholics, over eaters, smokers, gamblers, adulterers, gossipers or other forms of irresponsible living
  • Most of us are happy and content with life, because of our faith basis, and if we are not, we are working on it. You can see the light of humor in our eyes and the refusal to sweat the small stuff and the desire to get along with those around us by agreeing to disagree.

I just don't see what is to hate or be afraid of. I can imagine what it might be but will never assume what others are thinking.

Tea Parties, Backbone and Rebellion!!

So, my fellow conservatives...have you discovered your backbone yet? Are you angry enough yet to take action? If so, please look at the many action groups working together for a Tax Day Tea Party on April 15. There is SOMETHING you can do to get involved! http://taxdayteaparty.com/

I am one of those post-Vietnam boomers (1953) who wanted to just live a quiet life after all the turbulence of the 60's and the rebellion my older siblings witnessed and got involved in. So, I just went about my daily life, was not involved in politics at all, in fact did not cast my first presidential ballot till me early 30's. I went to work and tried to build a simple life for myself. When I did cast that first ballot, I did it as a Republican because I knew for SURE that I was not a Democrat.

I sat here in Florida in 2000 and 2004 and sweat bullets as the media elite decided how the state would go, not waiting for the Panhandle votes to come in. I sat in abject mourning the day after the college, beach and urban areas of Florida went for Obama and declared null and void the wishes of the remainder of the state.

Now as I watch the actions of this President in the first 100 days, I sit in terror of where this country is heading that I grew up loving. I only know one way to deal with terror. Stand up and fight the thing that is terrifying me.

So, I will step out of the Republican comfort zone of quiet disagreement and join forces with the growing number of Americans who "are mad as hell and not gonna take it anymore!!". Although teaching somewhat limits my freedom to do so, I will be at every event that I can attend, I will blog, I will write letters, I will talk to people about conservative values and do what ever I can to support local conservative candidates.

Find out what is happening in your area, get out of that comfortable chair, get out and fight for America!
